Peyton Fisher, a second-year physical therapy student from Fort Worth, has been named vice president of the TSPTA. Alexandra Garza, also a second-year student, originally from San Antonio, will serve as secretary. Their appointments represent a significant step forward for HSC and the visibility of its physical therapy program.
The TSPTA serves as the student voice of the Texas Physical Therapy Association, a chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association. Its mission is to inform and engage students about issues impacting the physical therapy profession. Through advocacy, education and professional development, the TSPTA empowers PT and PTA students to participate in shaping the future of their field.
Fisher and Garza are eager to amplify the impact of the TSPTA and connect with their

Fisher鈥檚 journey to the TSPTA board began with a transformative experience on Capitol Hill. 鈥淭hat trip really opened my eyes to the importance of advocacy and being involved with organizations like the TPTA,鈥 Fisher said. 鈥淲hen I saw the elections were open, I knew this was an opportunity to help fellow students and make a difference.鈥
Garza鈥檚 path was similarly inspired by her attendance at last year鈥檚 TPTA convention.
鈥淚 realized how important the TSPTA is for students, yet so many of my peers didn鈥檛
even know it existed,鈥 Garza said. 鈥淚鈥檓 passionate about advocating for our profession
and wanted to help spread awareness. Being part of the board allows me to do that.鈥
