Updated COVID Guidelines

In our ongoing efforts to protect the health of our students, faculty and staff, the 黑料视频 System has adopted the following recommendations for both COVID positive test results and COVID exposures:

COVID Guidelines

COVID STATUS TARGETED POPULATION ISOLATION/QUARANTINE PERIOD
Confirmed positive COVID-19 test result Everyone, regardless of vaccination status
  • Isolate for 5 days. If you have no symptoms or symptoms are resolving after 5 days, end isolation.
  • Recommended to wear a mask around others for 5 more days.
Exposure to someone with COVID-19 (Exposure defined as < 6 feet for > 15 minutes over a 24-hour period) Everyone, regardless of vaccination status
  • Recommended to wear a mask around others for 10 days
  • Test on day 5, if possible
  • If symptoms develop at any point, isolate and get a test

CRITERIA TO SAFELY RETURN TO OFFICE OR CAMPUS

  • 5 days have passed since any symptoms first appeared OR continue to NOT experience any symptoms if asymptomatic (i.e. cough, shortness of breath)
  • Improvement of symptoms (Symptoms other than fever do not need to be fully resolved)
  • > 24 hours have passed since last fever without use of fever reducing medications

Note. Prolonged symptom expression in individuals who are immunocompromised may require longer isolation periods.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
It is important to note that there is no mask mandate in Texas, as summarized in a statement released by Gov. Greg Abbott鈥檚 office:

"Governor Abbott has been clear that the time for government mandating of masks is over鈥攏ow is the time for personal responsibility. Every Texan has the right to choose whether they will wear a mask, or have their children wear masks. Vaccines are the most effective defense against contracting COVID and becoming seriously ill, and we continue to urge all eligible Texans to get the vaccine. The COVID vaccine will always remain voluntary and never forced in Texas."

The CDC lists vaccines, masks and testing as key tools to help ensure your personal safety with regard to COVID-19. Vaccinations and boosters have been found to drastically reduce the chance of experiencing severe impacts from COVID-19 and minimize transmission of the disease. You鈥檒l find .

All employees are permitted to make decisions about the use of personal protective measures, as long as those decisions are not imposed on others. For example, we encourage everyone, especially those who are not vaccinated, to wear masks in accordance with new CDC guidance.
